چکیده

Objective: To find the best parents for desirable traits, particularly earliness, yield, and fruit quality, as well YVMV (Yellow Vein Mosaic Virus) resistance, in order to create novel hybrids or varieties.
Experimental Design: The experiment was carried out using a randomised block design with three replications.
Place Duration of Experiment: study conducted 2016 kharif seasons at Department Horticulture's field experimentation centre Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture, Technology, Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.). At 78 metres above mean sea level, this location is situated between 25.87° N latitude 81.15° E longitude. experimental area's soils have sandy loam texture, are moderately drained, include provision ground water irrigation.
Methodology: 25 genotypes were collected Trail during season. grow crop, good agricultural methods used. Plant height (cm), number branches/plant, leaves/plant, first flowering (in days), 50% node, length diameter fresh weight (g), fruits/plant, yield/plant yield/plot incidence (%), severity crude observations be recorded five randomly chosen plants from each genotype replication calculate genetic correlation coefficient analysis, data subjected statistical analysis. Miller et al. algorithm used determine phenotypic coefficients.
Results: Based on analysed data, substantial positive connection Days First Flowering (0.94) Fruit Weight (g) Yield/plant found (0.91). Demonstrating that okra could experience real improvement thanks these characteristics. both genotypic levels, demonstrated highest beneficial direct impact yield per plant. Kashi Satdhari had lowest followed by Vardan (16.38%), whereas 151-10-1-2-3 (79.17%), Larem-1 (75.31%).
Conclusion: A very strong significant Yield/plant. Negative association Incidence % indicates decreases increase %.Fruit showed maximum effect plant level indicating effective through characters achieved okra.

Influence of Farmyard Manure and Weeding Regimes on Growth and Yield of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) in Zaria

Field experiments were conducted during the 2010 and 2011 cropping seasons to investigate the effect of farmyard manure and weeding regimes on the growth and yield of okra. The study was a factorial experiment laid out in split plot design, replicated three times. Farm yard manure was assigned as main plot treatments, while weeding regimes was assigned as sub plot treatments. Parameters measure...

Assessment of genetic relatedness among okra genotypes [abelmoschus esculentus (l.) Moench] using rapd markers

DNA based RAPD (Randomly Amplification of Polymorphic DNA) markers have been used extensively to study genetic relationships in number of crop plants. In this study, 44 okra genotypes collected from different parts of India, were selected to assess genetic distinctiveness and relatedness. Total genomic DNA was extracted and subjected to RAPD analysis using 14 arbitrary 10 mer primers. The molec...

Fertilizer Requirement for Densely Planted Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus L . )

A study was conducted at Mahailluppallama, in the Low country Dry zone (DL1b) of Sri Lanka, during Maha (2008/2009) to determine the fertilizer requirement of Okra when planted at closer spacings. Three (03) fertilizer levels (T1DOA recommendation/ plant, 2 DOA recommendation/ unit area and T31 1⁄2 times DOA recommendation/ unit area) were tested using Okra varieties Haritha and Green Tender (F...

Field Evaluation of Non-synthetic Insecticides for the Management of Insect Pests of Okra Abelmoschus Esculentus (l.) Moench in Ghana

In a two-year study, aqueous seed extracts of the neem tree Azadirachta indica A. Juss (Meliaceae) and Bacillus thurigiensis (Bt) were evaluated in the field for the management of pests of okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench. The aqueous neem seed extracts were applied at the rate of 30, 50, 75 and 100 g/l and B.thurigiensis was applied at the rate 1.0 g/l of water. Actellic 25 EC, a synth...
